Calling all boys first grade through fifth grade!
Earn your “That’s so cool” badge while meeting new friends and have fun learning about the world around you. When you sign your son up for Cub Scouts it is so much more than an after school activity. Seeing your son possibly going camping for the first time or catching his first fish, taking part in a cool science experiment or earning his first belt loop your son will be taking part in fun, character building activities.

What: Pack 95 Science Day
Who: All Scout Ranks from Tiger through Webelos II.
Purpose: Allow Scouts to work on their STEM theme badge requirements
Time: Saturday January 3rd 12:00pm to 3:00pm
Location: Sacred Heart School Gym – 1601 Grand Ave West Des Moines, IA 50265
Cost: Free!
Uniform: Class A uniforms recommended but not required.
Notes:
– Webelos, please bring your handbook as there are some additional speaking points where it will be beneficial to have on hand.
– This event is self directed. Scouts should have a responsible adult available to assist at each station.

Badges available to earn: Astronomy, Computer, Geology, Mathematics, Science, Weather
Webelos Scientist, Webelos Geologist, Webelos Engineer.
NOVA STEM requirements

With Christmas almost on us I want to share a wonderful opportunity our Pack will be hosting. Each year a Scout from Austria travels to Bethlehem to the Grotto of the Nativity where Jesus was born and brings a flame from the lamps that have been burning for centuries back to Vienna where it is distributed around the world with a message of peace. We are lucky that for the first time the light has come to Des Moines.

On Monday December 22^nd we will be having a small ceremony of peace where we will be lighting a candle at Sacred Heart Church with the flame from the Peace Light. All our Scouting families and friends are welcome to join us at 6:00pm for the lighting ceremony and for silent reflection. This is a non-denominational service to reflect on the Christmas season and to pray for peace throughout the world. At 6:30pm a Rosary will be said and everyone is welcome to stay for the Rosary as well or to continue to pray in a manner they see fit.

The lit candle will burn during the entire week of Christmas and you are encouraged to stop by and take a moment of silent reflection during that time. If anyone would like to bring the flame home with them we can make arrangements as well to share the light with everyone.
